San Francisco Over Style

Hey fashionistas, it has been a while!

My american road trip in September to the west coast was amazing and I’ll be sharing all my fashion moments with you over the next week or so. First stop: San Francisco.

I am not going to lie, I ignored all the signs that San Francisco was not going to be the warmest place during my stay, but as I checked the weather app out the month before on a regular basis it was always looming between 20-28 degrees, so naturally I got excited and thought “it’s America it’s going to be a hot 22 degrees.” I was wrong, and we had some fairly cool days over the second and third day and let’s just say my style went out the window and I opted for comfort, wearing jeans and trainers, have you ever caught me slippin’ in trainers before?! But I got over it, I’ll be more prepared next time.

San Francisco is an amazing city that has a lot of attractions such as The Golden Gate Bridge and Lombard Street. There are also a lot of hidden gems such as Sausalito and some real historical elements such as the Alcatraz prison. It’s often quite a miild city and you can see most of it within a few days. One of my highlights was definitely seeing the Golden Gate bridge as it’s often shown in a lot of films and the atmosphere just felt super american, we then decided to walk the bridge which was amazing as you can look over the bridge to see the beautiful San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz prison.

On the first day I decided to wear my crochet bardot, denim A-Line skirt both from Topshop and tassle fringed sandals from River Island, not forgetting my favourite silver choker also from Topshop. I like this look because although the bardot and choker are typical glam accessories the denim skirt makes it more girly and chilled out which is exactly what I wanted for this part of the trip. Although the weather was a bit cool at the weekend I decided to wear my san francisco sweater, nike leggings and tie my grey sweater around my waist to make the look a bit less ‘gym inspired’.

I learnt a lot from this part of the trip regarding fashion. Mainly,  that I should always take a pair of jeans and a jacket just in case. Although the weather may have been slightly cooler than I expected I learnt that sometimes the city explorer needs to take over and the fashionista within me needs to take the backseat.
