Print It

When I was younger I used to wear a lot of jewellery and dozens of bright colours mixed together. These days, I seem to wear simple and more neutral shades.

But the one thing I can’t seem to shake or shy away from is my love for a printed dress often the shirt style. But this year I’m getting in the swing of the swing dress because they look effortlessly chic teamed with some over the knee or ankle boots. Perfect for a city site seeing day or trying to have a simple girly day with no fuss.

Sometimes you want to wear a statement coat but you don’t want to wear bundles of items underneath, this is when a swing dress comes in handy and makes you appear so cool. Almost as if you just threw the look on in a matter of minutes.

Wearing a swing dress can seem almost child like to many of us but the trick is to style it well and feel comfortable with an essence of true British style. They’re often cheap as chips to buy and all they need is a cup full of accessories and a lick of lipstick to take the dress to the next level.

I bought this black and white printed dress from Forever 21, because sometimes you need a simple yet quirky cool dress to wear when popping out for a coffee or on those trips where you are searching for blogging inspiration.

This swing dress is a bit big around the waist but the length is short. In which case I decided to wear my Vivienne Westwood ankle boots to add some punk to quite a girly outfit and to subtract some of the attention away from the loose fitted style of the dress. But don’t be afraid of loose fitted clothes as that is what can give your outfit volume and creativity especially teamed with a boyfriend coat or leather jacket.

Short swing styles are better as knee high boots can help you to adopt a real chic mature look with them. The key to making the swing dress work is often to wear a strong lipstick, a hat, detailed shoes or a feminine bag. Swing dresses are comfy and more high fashion than a body con dress so never underestimate it.

This sort of swing dress is a the central part of the outfit but it relies heavily on accessories and makeup to bring it to life.
