Skirt and Sweater Combo

Wearing a sweater over a skirt is perfect for days sat at your desk or for a casual off duty look. It’s versatile.

I personally think this take on the sweater and skirt pairing is giving my style a revamp to storm through winter. I decided to wear my Topshop striped fringed jumper over a simple black suede skirt which looks effortless yet it draws on a few textures and styles in a subtle way.

I also think that if you have a jumper which is just a bit too boxy or isn’t quite the perfect fit for you, try wearing a polo neck underneath like I have with this pattered TK Maxx jumper and a straight skirt. Girls, you will instantly have a more streamlined and high fashion look.

If you’re aiming to go for quite a casual yet stylish look, you could always pick an a-line patterned skirt and team it with a blocked colour sweater. Look for jumpers with bell sleeves or try teaming it with a ruffled sweater.

This autumn I have favoured wearing patterned or textured skirts with roll necks or statement jumpers, as opposed to wearing jumpers tucked securely into a high waisted skirt. This is somewhat a key style that I love but I am trying to channel new ways of looking sophisticated.

This new found love for wearing sweaters over skirts allows me to  create different silhouettes and to play with layering. This look needs to be worn with statement heels so either choose over the knee boots like I have done or small heeled ankle boots with a funky heel to create a more catwalk worthy look.

To create a more fashion forward look you could tuck part of your sweater into your skirt at the front and leave part of it loosely out. This was ensure full attention is on both the skirt and sweater.

I think this more casual and comfortable restyling of the classic sweater and jumper combo is slowly but surely changing the way we wear and view power dressing.

How are you wearing your skirts and sweaters this autumn/ winter?
