The end of the year is drawing very near and this has got me thinking about what I want to do and achieve next year. But it has also made me think about what new clothes I want and remember all of my fashion faux pas!
I think we should all look back and cringe at past outfits- that’s life, you need to be able to laugh at yourself, not take yourself too seriously (especially with fashion) and see how far you’ve come. It’s also how we grow and how we learn the difference between what we like and dislike in fashion or in life.
This particular outfit seemed like a great idea at the time with approval from my fashion focused friends but seemed to be more of a joke to other people I knew. However, although I might laugh at the image, I love it. This outfit reminds me of how confident I was to try something different, although it wasn’t a hit for most people their opinion honestly didn’t faze me. Perhaps that was to do with age and finding my way into my fashion blogging world.
In the past year whilst blogging I’ve realised that most of my blogging gals share the same obsession for Zara and like myself they experiment and if it doesn’t work… well so what? We move on and continue to evolve our style.
So although I may refer to them as fashion faux pas, they really are not. They remind me of my youth, a time when I didn’t play by the rules so much and how fearless I was to experiment with fashion regardless of other people’s opinion. I just walked right into my University lectures with a 20cm bow across my forehead without a care in the world.
I think in the last few years, I’ve started to tone down my style but I think with time this more experimental side of me will make a return.
