Spanish Sleeves

Spring is all about upscaled sleeves, I say right now is the time to really take on the style and add a bit of fierceness to your daytime looks.

As some of you may know, I am obsessed with shirts but over the last year or so I haven’t been wearing as many as I used to, favouring high neck tops instead. But this year I am absolutely digging ruffles and frills, and blouses make me feel feminine when I’m at work or when I need something to wear on a day trip.

I was attracted to this mulled wine coloured top in New Look, just loved the flounce of the sleeves and the double layered frills really creates a string feminine silhouette when juxtaposed with a straight skirt or high waisted jeans. The top will still be the main point of the outfit but the  contrast of something slimming helps to bring the look together and not too ballooned.

Red is making  a strong impact on spring so why not buy the colour in a very bold style like a layered ruffle blouse and team it with a skirt in a darker shade of red to really vamp the top up. Fo serious style points you could buy the skirt in a faux leather to contrast textures.

Upscaled sleeves will not make you look bigger, in fact they ensure watchers see how small your waist now appears. What a great slimming trick! This sleeve type combines both feminine and masculine styles which makes it the perfect update to your 2017 wardrobe. You can wear a pinafore dress over it for a more demure look for work.

I can’t help but feel like Madonna in the La Isla Bonita video, whenever I wear this top. Now all I need to do is book a flight to Madrid, so I can dance in the streets in this frilled blouse just like Madonna… But if ruffles are just a bit too much for you, you can always wear a blouson blouse which will give you a bit of fierce armour but in a gentle way.
