In the summer of 2015 I kept coming across this bohemian sleeveless top in Topshop and each time I kept resisting it. At first I wasn’t so sure whether it may be more ideal for someone a bit older than me and I wasn’t sure I could style it my own way. However, when it went in the sale for £15 there was really no thinking involved… I had to at least buy and try.
This top quickly became my ‘jeans and a nice top’ look on those hot summer days. When I came across it in my wardrobe recently, all I kept thinking about was why I’ve never taken it on holiday ( maybe this year I’ll actually have to). This top would tick the box of casual boho/cali girl vibes if I tucked it slightly into some high waisted denim shorts and a western belt.
However, when I’m in England I have to play it safe so I decided to really channel an all 70s look with my Zara frayed hem jeans and my western boots with an open back. This top is so detailed that I think it needs to be worn over my jeans to draw on a more modern hippie chic style.
If you want to be channel a mixture of American and boho styles, choose wispy chiffon tops and big western or even buckle belts, but choose warm colours as this helps to bring the hippie style to life and you’ll be able to transition the look easily for festivals.
