Casual Military

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen yesterday’s post where I shared my outfit for the day where I wore a neat dark olive military style skirt paired with the femininity of a fluffy jumper. Military style is always a good fashion to invest in pre autumn, every year.

However, sometimes you might not want something to feel too sophisticated. This got me thinking about this army camouflage longline shirt I bought from Bershka back in 2014 whilst in Barcelona. I don’t really wear the shirt but I love that it’s a comfortable ‘throw on’ sort of look which is perfect for casual events.

Military fashion is always represented as being powerful, strong and fitted so I didn’t really want to lose those elements for this look. That’s why I decided to wear my black sleeveless polo from Primark underneath the  open shirt, and wear my high waisted deep, washed blue jeans from Topshop which brought my waist in and made me look quite streamlined and feminine. Then the flowing army shirt and my Timberland boots added  a masculine  and grunge kind of edge which works for a casual look.

It’s important to keep some of your garment cuts quite sleek and tidy as that will stop you looking frumpy and experiment with more functional military styles as this will help to keep the style evolving in your wardrobe year after year.
