Christmas Party Picks

This blog post is in collaboration with Monsoon Accessorize in Nottingham.

This time of year can often be a stressful period, especially with many of us trying to find the perfect gift for friends and family but needing our fashion fix too!

I’ve  picked some accessories from both Accessorize and Monsoon which will never lose their sparkle…

Monsoon Accessorize in Nottingham is full to the brim of accessories which will help you to add the glam factor to the simplest of outfits. The products are affordable, beautifully crafted and very unique in their style, which is what you need for the season of statement wear – don’t you think?

I was spoilt for choice when picking my top pieces but in the end I chose six items which I thought would work for a range of ages and even for women with different fashion tastes, because like I have always said – it is all about how you style it.

First I chose this Baroque Jewelled Circle Cross Body Bag from Accessorize because it looks so expensive when in fact it is only £29, velvet, covered in gems and beaded embellishments – what a steal!

I personally love bags which I can wear in the day for a fashion lift and can be taken straight into an evening out. I would say some of my outfits can be quite simple, for example today I wore black skinny jeans, a grey jumper, a pink coat and black boots. This bag would be perfect to just illuminate the autumnal colours of my outfits whilst adding a simple touch of elegance without being too over the top. This bag is perfect for jazzing up a simple Christmas party outfit or would be perfect when you need to add a touch of class.

I adore this £35 vintage style clutch bag from Accessorize  because I like clutch bags to be quite wide as it just adds a bit of shape to a going out look and a drop of sass – we all need that right? I picked this as I love to wear a lot of black clothing and as do many of my friends for nights out so what better way to oomph the fierceness of a look than with a beaded, embroidered and pearl  bag with all the right autumnal/ winter colour palette. This bag is all you need to wear with a simple outfit, especially if you are not one for wearing too much jewellery. If you tend to wear a lot of gold or pink during the festive season then this bag will also help to lift your look and to draw out those colours in more detail. Product code: 3436120100.

Next I chose the Gabriel Glitter Point Court Shoes from Monsoon which are only £59. Not everyone enjoys all the glitz and glamour which the dresses, skirts and tops offer during the countdown to Christmas. Some just like to take a smaller slice of the glitter cake. So why not add these sparkly shoes (which I am certain that if  Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz was created today – she would be wearing these ) to your Christmas party look. The shoes will work well with a range of looks such as a black jumpsuit or a shift dress, this is where sophistication meets glamour. You want to make the most of these shoes, so you will always be able to wear them to spice up a wedding look that may just need that bit of sparkle to give it an edge and true celebration factor.

IMG_2620This is a bit of a quirky accessory which you may like to wear for a Christmas party. Now I took inspiration from my fictional style icon – Carrie Bradshaw. In Sex and the City, you would often catch Carrie teaming a  beret with a cute dress just to bring a bit of Parisian style to New York.

You could take this pearl wool beret which is only £17 and wear it with a black camisole slip dress, oversized check blazer, open toe heels, a statement bag (always) and this beret for a cute yet edgy take on the Christmas party look.

You might just need to buy the beret, letting you save your pennies for some well deserved cocktails! I personally think that the hat worn with the Kayle Ombre Metallic Clutch Bag from Monsoon ( pictured in image 1) would be enough glitz to bring the look to a Christmas party status. The clutch bag touches on a 90s style but has that contemporary ombre fade. Even the clip frame has two gems and you can wear it with its slinky chain to bring out your inner 90s Kate Moss. The option of either wearing it as a clutch bag or  by the chain just shows the diversity of the bag and why it will be a statement piece in your wardrobe which you can wear for other parties or events in years to come.

Last but not least, I chose the £69 Peggy Pearl Trim Pointed Court Shoes from Monsoon – Manolo Blahnik Hangisi pumps inspired? I think so – but for a fraction of the price! Sometimes you just need a statement shoe which is just elegant. I think these heels are timeless, will work for anyone who wants to step into the party season with a shoe that makes their legs appear longer and has classic detail. The heels come with encrusted gems and pearls with a smooth satin finish – just perfect for this season.

I have picked these items as they are all affordable and under £70. They can also be worn time and time again outside of this season when you want to add a splash of femininity to a particular look.
