A Dressy Afternoon Tea

Yesterday marked the girls’ annual Christmas trip to The Ritz – Lodon, for a spot of afternoon tea. I should probably use the ‘annual’ term quite loosely as this is the second year we have done it, but if you’ve done it two years running it becomes tradition right?
This year I decided that I wanted to wear something a bit more glitzy for the occasion if possible to help get into the festive spirit and this is the only time of year I can really embrace it. On one of our daily ASOS scrolls my sister spotted this floral metallic number from New Look and for £29.99 this was a reasonable splurge.

I quite liked that the dress included both metallic detailing, floral and velvet and was quite a regular relaxed fit with the bloussen sleeves and drawstring waist.

I teamed the dress with my ‘tedddy bear’ coat from Topshop as I think the pink tone really helped to bring out the autumnal colours from the dress and to highlight that purple tone in more intricate detail. Naturally I wore my Topshop leather boots to add a bit of height to the look. To complete the outfit I added a sassy Vivienne Westwood necklace to create a stronger statement outfit.

Bags can get quite lost within this coat, so I decided to add a high fashion touch with my Gucci inspired bag ( bought in Paris from a small boutique) as the chain detail is quite prominent and adds a fierce feminine touch.

This was a simple and elegant style to wear for a ‘high society’ event and was affordable. This dress is still in stock on ASOS and is perfect to wear at some of the festive occasions and can even be dressed down for a Sunday pub lunch or worn for a Christmas Eve party.

What do you think to the look?
