Your work Christmas party is probably over but the festive parties and invites will continue right through to the new year – that definitely calls for a glass of sparkling prosecco and a new outfit for that matter… it is Christmas after all!
The pressure to buy presents, organise food and to get yourself looking ultra glamorous can be quite overwhelming for some of you this season. But great news I have done the hard work for you! I have picked the perfect skirt from Monsoon which I think will work for a range of ages and occasions without breaking your bank balance. Did I mention that this is a great chance to invest in a new off-duty look which can be recycled in your wardrobe again and again?
This Scarlet All Over Sequin Skirt from Monsoon which is only £69, has caught my eye over the last two weeks and that’s because I love the plush intricate detailed design and how striking the gold sequins are against the black veloir fabric. The skirt is the opulence of Christmas and is completed with a thick black waistband which will help nip your waist in and allows room for your skirt and top to be separate, giving you a defined silhouette. The waistband also helps to define the A-line classy skirt style.
I decided to team the skirt with a wrap front black blouse from River Island to add a more streamlined and feminine touch and with these -2 degree weather conditions, this really is the perfect cover up to compliment this skirt! I decided to wear my open black heels from New Look as they are simple and allow all the attention to be on the skirt and that means you can re-wear some simple heels for this outfit. This skirt is such a statement you don’t need to worry about buying costume jewellery to make it more glamorous, as the skirt is enough to make you sparkle this season.
There are lots of black statement blouses in Monsoon but I would suggest teaming the skirt with the Charlotte Rose Lace Top ( which is now only £39) as that way you can channel a more regal and elegant look for the festive season, which can also be worn year after year as they are timeless pieces.
I saw Balenciaga own the catwalk with a floral sequinned dress last autumn/winter and this skirt reminds me of that high fashion element by incorporating a swirly floral design with the use of sequins which will never go out of style and definitely not for future Christmases.
You may want to chanel a more 90s/ early 00s look by adding a gold metallic cami top with this skirt to hone in on the gold tone. Or you could just wear a simple black top with the skirt and add this Frankie Faux Fur Jacket also from Monsoon, for a fiercer festive look and which could also be re-worn for occasion wear such as a wedding.
