Join Up The Dots

I used to see polka dot patterned clothes on and off throughout the last two years and was always left feeling disappointed by the garment cut or fabric. It has been a style I have wanted to invest in for quite some time but had been pushed to the back of my mind in the last few months. This was until I saw fashion blogger Sophia Rosemary pull off a cute and simple blouse from Boohoo with small ruffles at the top of each shoulder. I hadn’t really thought about looking on here, but Boohoo it was…

I managed to find this Kirsty Polka Dot Sheared Balloon Sleeve Blouse with a balloon sleeve and I quite like that the blouse has a statement sleeve and a delicate ruffle on each arm to create a feminine silhouette. The low hem ruffle along the mid to bottom, just adds a bit of style to a simplistic style. The tight cuffs helps to make the look more fitted and look more expensive than it’s actual worth of £20. ( Absolute bargain for £20!)

I have been wearing this top with black and blue jeans and different bag shapes since I bought it last month. However, for this particular look I decided to toughen the oh so feminine print with my oversized camel coat from Zara, as I think the brown hue is a great contrast to the polka dot print. The statement boots and a pair of skinny black jeans also just makes it a strong black on black look.

But polka dots is a very old school feminine style which has been remastered so many times over the decades by true romantic designers such as Dior and Balenciaga. But I wanted to adopt an element of girlish charm to this particular look, so I added my suede red cross body bag from Zara which has a statement classy chain and adds depth to the look with the red tone as well as my vintage inspired gold hoop earrings.

This is a style which I will be able to wear throughout the remainder of this winter and for many other seasons to come as the look is classic and simple to update with the use of current accessories.
